Patients aged 18-64 with a qualifying medical condition

We are delighted to now be able to share with you information regarding the vaccinating of patients aged 18-64 who have a qualifying medical condition. Many of you will have received a text message about this already.

Our patients will be able to book appointments on MONDAYS, starting from 26/10/20. Vaccinations will be delivered at POLLOK HEALTH CENTRE. Sessions will alternate from AM and PM, with AM sessions running from 08:45- 12:15 and PM sessions from 12:45- 16:15. A maximum of 35 patients can be appointed and vaccinated per session. Please ensure you arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to your appointment and wear loose fitting clothing. For directions to pollok health centre please see this link.

The vaccinations will be co-ordinated by the team at Merrylee Medical Centre, so please call us to book your appointment. Pollok HC is only being used as a venue to deliver the vaccines and they have no role in the administrative side of the process so PLEASE DO NOT PHONE THEM!

Our reception team have a list of patients in this category who qualify for a vaccine. They will be able to advise you if you are on this list, and will be unable to book an appointment if you are not. If you are not on this list but feel strongly you have a condition which qualifys you for a vaccination then the team will pass your details to a doctor to be reviewed.

The overall goal this year is that all patients over 55 years will get a vaccine, regardless of if they have a qualifying medical condition. However, at the moment we are only able to book and appoint those patients aged over 55 who have a qualifying condition. If you are aged 55 -64 without a underlying medical condition you will be contacted by the helathboard later in the years regarding arrangements for vaccination.

This is the first year the influenza vaccination programme has been delivered in this way and there may be some teething problems. The entire team across the health board and indeed the country are dealing with an unprecedented set of circumstances. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Seasonal Flu Vaccine 2020/21

This years seasonal influenza programme is going to be challenging due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Many thousands of people will be needing immunised across the health board, and this needs to be done safely and in line with all necessary social distancing precautions. As such, there will be significant changes to how this is delivered this year.

Seasonal influenza vaccines are thus not going to be administered in Merrylee Medical Centre as they usually would be. The appointment and administration of vaccines will be overseen directly by the health board.

All of our patients aged over 65 will be asked to attend vaccination appointments at Thornliebank Health Centre. These will be on saturdays or sundays only, between 08:30 and 17:45. We are still waiting on the exact details as to when these will start, but patients will be contacted directly regarding this by the health board- please do not contact Thornliebank Health Centre regarding appointments as they simply being used as a venue-they are not involved in the booking and administration of appointments. For directions to thornliebank health centre, please see this link.

We are still waiting on exact details for our patients aged 18-64, who would otherwise qualify for a seasonal influenza vaccine. We can anticipate that an arrangement similar to that proposed above the over 65 cohort of patients will be put forward. We will update this page when we have further information.

The vaccination of school aged children will be arranged through schools.
