Appointments

Appointment Booking

We have been able to recently return to a largely pre booked system of appointments, in much the same way as we operated prior to the covid 19 pandemic.

For routine issues, patients can now call and book either a telephone or a face to face appointment with a doctor. Certain issues may be easier and quicker dealt with over the phone, so our system allows  choice and flexibility for our patients. For morning telephone appointments, patients will be called between the hours of 0830-1200 and for afternoon appointments between 1300-1800. We will try to call a maximum of two times so please be ready to answer your phone.

On the day appointments will now only be considered for urgent matters- as was the case prior to covid 19.

Home Visits

If you think a home visit may be required, please make every effort to telephone before 10.00am so that our receptionists can log the call for doctor assessment. A doctor will phone you back to gather information about the problem: it may be possible to deal with your problem by telephone, referral to district nurses or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

Only patients who are terminally ill or truly bed bound will normally be granted a home visit.

All other patients who require face-to-face assessment are expected to attend the surgery where we have full medical equipment and staff to give patients a higher quality of care.

Patients who are shielding because of corona virus will be considered on an individual basis. House visits will only be considered in extreme circumstances- the last thing we want is to expose you and your family to potential harm by inadvertently bringing corona virus into your house.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
